Keystone Transportation
Keystone is about 2 hours away from Denver’s airport. Once you get through Denver, it will be uphill most of the way as you travel on I-70. The drive can get a bit sketchy when it is snowing.
There are several shuttle services that run from Denver International Airport into the mountains. If you choose one of our partners, you can save money by using our promo code.

Keystone Transportation FAQ
Most people fly into Denver. The Eagle County Regional Airport is slightly closer, but there are fewer flights in and out of that airport.
Expect this drive to take about 2 hours.
We recommend renting a car. The River Run Village at the bottom of the mountain is not like Vail, Aspen, or Telluride. At some point you will probably want to drive into Silverthorne, over to Breckenridge, or up to Arapahoe Basin. There is a free bus service in Summit County, but you won’t be able to simply walk to everything that you need during your vacation here like you can do at some other Colorado resorts.
The Eisenhower Tunnel may close – The tunnel can close for weather, accidents, temporary maintenance shutdowns, or to allow hazardous material haulers through when Loveland Pass is closed. If the tunnel is closed for weather, you will have to wait. If the tunnel is closed for another reason, you may use Highway 6 over Loveland Pass to get to Keystone.
Directions from Denver
Once you are on I-70 headed west, stay on the interstate until you get through the Continental Divide and reach the Silverthorne exit at the bottom of the hill. From here, just head up Hwy 6 until you see Keystone on your right side.
- I-70 Westbound
- Hwy 6 @ Exit 205 (Silverthorne)
Summit County Stage
This is a free local bus that runs between the ski resorts of Summit County and a few key dropoff points.
Here are the equipment rules to know for the Summit Stage: Skiers can bring their gear inside during the winter, but bikes are not allowed inside during the summer and the bike racks are limited to 3 bikes/bus.
You can view a live map of all Summit Stage bus routes via the Summit County website here.
