Copper Mountain Transportation
Copper Mountain is located in Summit County, and getting around the local area here is usually easy. The base area villages at Copper Mountain are not as robust as some of the other world-class resorts nearby where you don’t need a car, so you may prefer to rent a car if you are going to vacation here.
This doesn’t mean that there is any lack of mountain shuttles that can take you here from Denver. You can view some of our partners below that offer rides from DIA and other airports.

Copper Mtn Transportation FAQ
There are two main airports that are among your options if you are coming to Copper Mountain of vacation. Eagle County Airport is the closest to Copper Mountain, but there are fewer flight options in and out of here than Denver. Denver International Airport is the next closest and most popular option, at almost a 2 hour drive from Copper Mountain.
The Summit County Stage is a free bus system throughout Summit County, connecting Copper Mountain to other ski areas like Breckenridge and Keystone.
There is a free shuttle service system on-site at Copper Mountain that circulates all day between the Alpine Lot, Far East Lots and the Center, East, & West Villages. There are several different lines to choose between based on where you want to go.
During the summer season, all parking lots at Copper Mountain are free. In the winter season, the Alpine & Far East Lots are free. There are several paid parking lots with varying prices during the season.
The driving time between Denver and Copper Mountain varies based on weather and traffic patterns, with a base drive time of about 1 hr 45 minutes.
It is recommended, but not completely necessary. For those who don’t want to rent a car, the Summit Stage bus provides free transportation between the towns and other ski resorts in the county.
The main route to Copper Mountain is on I-70 – You’ll have to contest with the Continental Divide if you are coming from the east, or Vail Pass if coming from the west.

Copper Mountain Shuttle
There is a free shuttle on-site at Copper Mountain that offers five routes to various locations, including to the parking lots and the villages. The shuttle runs during the winter season between 7 am and 10 pm.

Summit Stage
Summit County offers a free bus system, the Summit Stage, that has several routes throughout the county.
There is a direct route from Frisco to Copper Mountain, with connecting buses to other locations in Summit County. This bus can get you to many of the major neighborhoods, hotels, and ski lodges in Summit County, as well as all of the ski resorts.
Directions from Denver & Grand Junction
Interstate 70 is the main highway giving skiers and riders access to Copper Mountain – I-70 Eastbound will get you there from Grand Junction, and I-70 Westbound will get you there from Denver.
