Granby Ranch is a relaxed and family-friendly ski area located outside of Denver to the north of the big I-70 resorts. It sits on Route 40, the same road as the nearby Winter Park Resort. Granby is split into two mountains: the East Mountain which features a ton of beginner-friendly terrain, and the West Mountain which features steeper and more challenging runs for advanced skiers.

Getting to Granby Ranch
From Denver, follow 1-70 west for approximately 30 miles. Next, take exit 232 for US-40 west toward Empire/Granby and travel approximately 45 miles. Before reaching the town of Granby, you will travel over Berthoud Pass, through Winter Park, and through the towns of Fraser and Tabernash. The resort is on Village Rd. to your right when you arrive in the historic town of Granby.

All the trails on both the East and West mountains lead back to the same base area, meaning it’s tougher to become lost or separated from your group.
Granby Ranch does offer night skiing, but only on certain select Fridays and Saturdays. Check their website for the current night skiing schedule.
No, Granby Ranch offers two free parking lots within walking distance of the mountain, and an overflow lot with shuttle service.
Some skiers may be underwhelmed by the lack of seriously challenging terrain at Granby Ranch. With only 1,000 ft of vertical rise, this is not a particularly tough resort to ski.
Granby Ranch is a bit more out of the way than the major I-70 resorts if you’re coming from Denver. However, it is located on a major highway and is not truly remote. If you can make the journey to get there, you will be greeted by a lack of lift lines!
Tips for Skiing at Granby Ranch
Take your kids through the trees. Granby Ranch is mostly mild sloped, but there are lots of tree skiing areas where the trees are spaced far apart. You can find pathways to adventure through the woods with your children here, as long as they are comfortable with the terrain.
There is a gorgeous viewpoint located a short walk off of the top of the Quick Draw Express. Go straight ahead when you exit the lift. This will take you to a beautiful scenic viewpoint where you can see the Continental Divide.
