This road over the Continental Divide provided a crucial route into Walden and North Park, CO when it was created in the early 1900s. The signs seen here were likely added by the Colorado State Highway Department. This era is when the department added white signs w/ black borders around mountain passes throughout the state.
This postcard has a postmark from Walden, located just to the north of this pass. This would have been one of the most likely places for this postcard to have been sold.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: Some of the surface has retained its glossiness, but much of it has begun to deteriorate. There is light discoloration on the backside due to aging. The dark spots near the postmark look like possible mold spots.
