Comments & Discussion

It is believed that this sign was added in 1957 or possibly late in 1956. This is the earliest image of this sign in the Coloradotopia archives as of the time of its arrival. The brown Continental Divide sign that was added by the US Forest Service is nearly brand new in this photo, and it shows no signs of weathering. This sign replaced a white sign that was added by the CO Department of Highways.

The historical marker on the right has been here since 1929.

On the right, an orange/white Buick from the mid-1950s can be seen. There are several models that used this two-tone scheme between 1954-’56.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: The bottom right corner of the cardboard mount has been cut. There is little or no sign of aging in the red border. Some of the blue handwritten ink is showing signs of fading.
