Comments & Discussion

The slide has “Big Circle Tour Berthoud Pass Continental Divide” written on it in pen.

Some weathering can be seen starting to show up on the sign where the brown is a bit lighter than the original brown shade.

Notice the elevation of 11,307′ printed on this sign. This has been changed since the previous sign read 11,314′. A sign that was here in 1917 read 11,330′. A sign from the 1920s read 11,306′. Another sign from the 1940s that was on the side of the Berthoud Pass Inn listed the elevation as 11,315′. The current sign reads 11,307′.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: There is little/no discoloration of the slide’s mount. The date stamp’s ink is starting to fade, especially the ‘SEP’ lettering. There is little/no oxidation or fading of the handwriting.
