Cottonwood Pass Continental Divide sign in 1983

This slide shows a modern design on Cottonwood Pass’s Continental Divide sign in 1983. This isn’t the newest of the designs, but compared to other signs from earlier eras around Colorado, this would be considered a modern layout.

1985

Cottonwood Pass Continental Divide sign in 1985

This image from the mid-1980s gives another look at the summit of Cottonwood Pass while it was still a dirt road. Paving of the eastern side was completed in 1991, while the western side was not paved until 2017.

2009

Cottonwood Pass Continental Divide sign during the summer at top of the pass

This modern sign on the pass looks very similar to the ones that came before it. The spacing of the lettering and the angles cut into the top and bottom are the obvious characteristics that set this sign apart from the others.
