Comments & Discussion
The historical marker on the left can be seen sitting on top of its original concrete base, which appears to be mounted onto another base that is meant to match the one next to it.
The brown Continental Divide sign on the right is identical to ones installed on Loveland Pass and Berthoud Pass around 1956-’57. It is assumed that the sign shown here was added around the same time.
Upon arrival into the archive, the slide already has handwritten pen labeling of ’15’, ‘H-37’, ‘x’, and ‘Hoosier Pass Between Fairplay & Breckenridge’.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: Image quality and coloring are extremely low in the actual slide image that is held in the archives. The slide mount’s condition is OK. There are no signs of aging visible to the naked eye aside from the fading of the date label and the “Made in U.S.A” lettering. The fading of the date label is severe, but can still be made out to be “Jun63D”.
