Image Dating Comments

This sign was in place here between approx. 1957 and 1965. There is very little wear of the paint on this sign shown in this photo. The sign was repainted at some point during its lifespan after 1960. This image was likely captured shortly after the sign was put into place or after it was repainted in the early 60s.

Comments & Discussion

This slide was developed by JOAN Photo Service in Brandon, Wisconsin. The slide is a minority in the Coloradotopia archives since is not a Kodachrome slide. The slide is labeled “Process Controlled Color Finishing”.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: This slide has an extreme red tint as it sits in the archives. This color has been corrected in the scanned digital version that is shown on this page.

The slide’s cardboard mount has survived with no discoloration visible to the naked eye. The “patented” text on the front of the slide looks like it was probably smudged from the beginning, but there is significant uneven fading that appears to show genuine aging.
