Milner Pass Continental Divide Sign Postcard - 1964 Postmark #CML-264
Brief Description
This postcard shows a brown sign on the Continental Divide at Milner Pass. It is believed that the red 9 was a distance marker that showed the distance from the Rocky Mountain National Park Grand Lake Entrance Station to this spot on the pass.

Comments & Discussion
The scan above was done at 300 DPI, and it shows some of the dots that result from the lithographic printing process.
This sign was added on the opposite side of the road from the previous sign. Take note of the straightness and flatness of the edges on this sign. It would soon be painted and modified to have a wave pattern on the edges.
The mile marker would disappear soon as well. This was likely because the distance to this point had changed as the road was improved.
The message reads: Just finished breakfast & on our way to Pikes Peak. Kids went swimming at motel last night. We sure are having a wonderful trip. It was real cold in the mts. We will be in Scottsbluff Nebraska late this afternoon – It’s a camp a little ways from there – Rotary Camp Grounds. Love, Laurie & Cy.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: This postcard has some very rough edges with lots of wear.
