This sign was located on the Old Monarch Pass route. The main route over the pass was eventually changed, but a dirt road still exists over this section of the Continental Divide.
This car looks like it is equipped for a serious road trip. Many of the visitors to Colorado during the 1920s came from states like Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. They all drove here, so it was a different crowd than you might find flying into Denver International Airport now.
