Image Dating Comments
This slide’s mount is labeled “6/52” in pen. While most of the slides in this archive merely have a development date, this date is presumed to be the month when the image was captured.
Comments & Discussion
While other passes in Colorado will still have skiable patches for the 4th of July, Rabbit Ears Pass is located at a lower elevation and will lose its snowpack much sooner. Only a few small patches of snow can be glimpsed in the background of this image near the rabbit ears.
US Highway 40 can be seen paved and passing in the foreground of this photo. The registration box sits empty, and it will be removed in the coming year.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: The front of this slide has some clear signs of aging, especially near the edges. There are numerous light markings and 4 good corners.
