Comments & Discussion

This photo was likely taken on a fall excursion that was documented by Edith Sampson in Municipal Facts. This newsletter was published by the City and County of Denver. There are some indications that some of the photos for this story may not have been captured by Sampson. The Berthoud Pass photo is likely from the early 1920s.

A wagon road had existed over Willow Creek Pass since 1905. An improved road for automobiles was completed over the pass in 1910. The route over the Continental Divide where this sign was photographed was designated as CO State Highway 125 in 1923.
