Image Dating Comments
This postcard has a postmark of Aug 6th, 1964, from Durango, CO. It is believed that the image was captured no later than the summer of 1963. This is known because the plaque which is missing from the boulder here was replaced by 1963.

Comments & Discussion
The boulder where the historical plaque is normally located is seen with vacant space here. The boulder is still here, but the plaque has been removed. That plaque was added in 1929, and the boulder it was mounted to was later attached to the left side of this newer stone base.
The sign on the left looks like its signpost has been freshly buried. The plaque was most likely removed for refurbishing when this brown sign and its base were added. The white sign would have most likely been added at the same time.
It looks like the lower-left of the boulder may have been damaged by a plow by this point in time. A piece is missing from the lower left.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: The glossy surface is free of any major scratches. The backside has lots of browning due to aging. Three out of 4 corners have obvious wear.
