1923 Pikes Peak Auto Highway Souvenir Toll Ticket #PIK-6582
Brief Description
This historical toll road ticket comes from the Pikes Peak Auto Highway, and it has a date stamp of 1923 on the back. There were two types of tickets during this era. One was a ticket that gave travelers access to the road (see this one). The second type is more common, and these were the souvenir tickets like this one from 1923, which were given out at the summit to those who made the journey.

Comments & Discussion
There are several factors that differentiate this ticket from the tickets that were used in 1922. The color of the paper changed, and the type of paper had also changed. The enlarged image of the backside stamp above gives a good look at the underlying pattern within the paper.
The pattern around the edge on the front is also different from the previous years and subsequent years.
This ticket has different measurements than the 1922 ticket if the whole ticket is measured. However, the border patterns appear to have the exact same measurements.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: There is a small amount of warping in the surface near the left edge upon arrival into the collection, but there is little or no visible damage on the front side. The backside has slightly more significant visible aging.
