The lot that this ticket came with has several photos from the trip that are dated to 1962. The group took the cog railway up to the top of Pikes Peak, and the auto road down. This included a stop at Glen Cove, where a photo was captured that has a date plaque that reads June 27, 1962.
Comments & Discussion
This ticket is the same color as the 1958 Pikes Peak toll road tickets. It is also the same style as tickets that were used in earlier years. This archive has a Pikes Peak toll road ticket from 1949 that uses this same text and layout, but it is a different color that is closer to beige.
The three tickets below come from the lot of 15 that this ticket is a part of. This photo tells the tale of the tour… up to the top on the cog railroad, and then down the highway in a limousine.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: There is severe fading of the text through the middle of the frontside. There are 4 good corners. The backside has 1 area near the middle where a piece of adhesive was once stuck.
The other two items from this lot that are seen in the photo above still have a piece of adhesive tape on the back, giving a glimpse into what caused the damage to the back of this ticket. In the case of this ticket, that piece was ripped off when the ticket was removed from whatever album these were fixed into, creating that anomaly on the back.
