You can consider most of the hotels and lodges in downtown Aspen to be within walking distance of the mountain. The Silver Queen Gondola is likely going to be your starting point for your day on the mountain here. The Hotel Jerome and the St. Regis are two of the nicest ski hotels near the base here, and both are located within about a short walk from the gondola.

Hotel Jerome
The Hotel Jerome is a historical hotel in the downtown area. This property is highlighted by 6 restaurants, bars and lounges, including the famous historic J-Bar.
Limelight Hotel
The Limelight Hotel is located centrally near the transportation center, pedestrian village, and ski slopes of Aspen. The hotel is highlighted by the rooftop terrace, fitness room, restaurant & bar, and the pool w/ two hot tubs elevated next to it.
St. Moritz Lodge & Condominiums
Prices for lodging at the St. Moritz should be much lower than the top luxury hotels on this page. Property amenities here include a steam room, outdoor heated pool, as well as the complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon snacks. The St. Moritz is located approx. 11 blocks from the bottom of the gondola.
St. Regis Aspen Resort
The St. Regis is one of Aspen’s top luxury hotels. Guests here enjoy the on-site spa and luxury services that go as far as a full butler service.
The Gant
This is approx. a 5-10 minute walk from the ski slopes. Guests can also walk into the downtown pedestrian mall from here, but the walk is not a quick one, so dress warm.
Aspen Meadows Resort
This resort is best known for its conference enter and beautiful expansive property that it shares with the Aspen Institute. The Aspen Meadows Resort is located outside of the NE part of the city, a fair bit beyond walking distance from the ski resort.
Independence Square Hotel
This hotel has an amazing location in downtown Aspen, and staying here is not as expensive as the surrounding luxury properties. There is a rooftop hot tub to brag about, but the big highlight of this ski hotel is the location right in the middle of everything, right near the base of the resort.
The Little Nell
This famous luxury hotel is one of the closest hotels to the gondola in Aspen. Guests will enjoy 2 different restaurants and 3 bars on this property. The Little Nell has top-notch amenities for everyone in the family including kids and pets.
Aspen Mountain Lodge
Located on Main St., just beyond comfortable walking distance from the slopes. Guests here have access to a year-round pool and hot tub that is located on the property. This can be a great ski lodge if you want to try and save money during your trip.
Aspen Square Condominium Hotel
These condos are located right across the street from the main Aspen base area and ski slopes, so guests can easily walk to almost anything that they need while staying here. The pedestrian mall is just one block away to the north.
Aspen Vacation Rentals
The Red Mountain area of Aspen can be seen in the photo below. Red Mountain is located across the valley from Aspen Mountain and this is where you will find some of the most expensive homes in the Aspen area. The Little Nell is located slopeside, right next to the Silver Queen Gondola. This is one of the closest places to the lifts that you can stay in Aspen.
The Red Mountain area is across the valley from the ski resort. Almost all of the homes here have amazing views of Aspen Mountain, and multi-million dollar price tags. These will be some of the most luxurious homes available if you can find one for rent.
