There are a variety of transportation options for guests at Beaver Creek and visitors staying in the town of Avon. While many guests opt to rent a car for ease of getting around the area, a car is not necessary if you are staying at Beaver Creek. 

Keep in mind that during the winter season, getting to Beaver Creek from Denver or other parts of Colorado may prove more difficult. Keep your eye on weather predictions and plan accordingly.

Beaver Creek Transportation FAQ

Both airports have their pros and cons – Eagle County Airport is much closer (30 minutes away), but there are less flight options. Denver is about 2 hours away, and you can take a shuttle or drive to Beaver Creek.

There is a free bus service provided by the town of Avon which goes throughout the town and stops at Elk Lodge at the base of Beaver Creek.

A car is not necessary if you are staying at Beaver Creek, as there is a free shuttle service throughout the area. If you stay in the town of Avon, there is also a bus that stops at Elk Lodge at Beaver Creek. However, a car may prove useful for exploring the area and getting around Avon. Keep in mind that during the winter, Beaver Creek charges for parking.

The drive between Denver and Beaver Creek is around 1.5 to 2 hours on I-70 with good weather and no traffic. Vail Pass and the Eisenhower Tunnel can both close for weather and there are no quick alternative routes. If the weather is poor, the drive can be dangerous.

Yes, Beaver Creek offers shuttle service throughout the area all day, including between the lower parking lots and the upper base area. You can also request transportation through the Village Connect app.

While parking at Beaver Creek is free during the summer, lots are all paid during the winter season, even the lower lots.

Local Bus Routes & Info

Free Avon Bus and Beaver Creek Shuttle

The town of Avon offers a free in-town bus system that stops at Elk Lot at the base of Beaver Creek. There are several lines that take riders to convenient locations around town. Check out the Avon website for an updated schedule and more information. 

Beaver Creek has a  free shuttle service throughout the resort. There are regular shuttles from Bear Lot, the Elk Lot, and the Covered Bridge in Beaver Creek Village. You can also book on-demand transportation with the Village Connect app. 

Eagle County Bus (ECO)

Eagle County offers a transportation system that runs almost non-stop throughout the year. Tickets are cheap – $4 will get you from Beaver Creek to Vail, $7 will cover the longest routes. It runs to the town of Avon as well.

Plus, the ECO bus system also has a bus stop at the Eagle County Regional Airport, so it is even easier to get around the area without a car.

Directions from Denver & Grand Junction

Interstate 70 is the only access to Beaver Creek from the east. I-70 Eastbound or Rt. 6 will get you here from Grand Junction, and I-70 Westbound will get you here from Denver.
