Copper Mountain Beginner Skiing
Copper Mountain is an excellent ski resort for beginner skiers. Between the surface lifts at the base area and the green trails that descend from the top of the mountain, there is enough easy terrain here to make this one of the top 10 CO ski resorts for beginners.
The Surface Carpet Lifts
There is a total of 4 carpet lifts at Copper Mountain. You’ll find 3 of these near West Village, and the last one near Center Village.
Beginner Terrain Above West Village
If you look up at Copper Mountain, the beginner ski terrain will be on your right, the intermediate terrain will be in the middle, and the black diamonds will be on your left. Once you get above treeline, it’s almost all blacks and double-blacks, but above the West Village you will find lots of easy beginner ski terrain.
The beginner terrain on this side of the mountain has a mild pitch, wide trails, and sporadic pine trees throughout. The trails do narrow down towards the bottom. The main lifts servicing this area shown above and below are the Kokomo Express and the Lumberjack triple chair.
Meanwhile, higher up on the mountain...
Beginners are not confined to one small part of the mountain here. The Union Park and Wheeler Creek ski trails descend down from the top of the Rendezvous chairlift. These trails will bring you down to Coppertone, and this will get you almost down to the bottom.
What about the Otto Bahn trail into the Copper Bowl?
This is an intermediate trail, but it is essentially just a traverse down into the bowl. You can see what it looks like below, and on the Copper Bowl page.
