Top Monarch Mountain Hotel Picks
Monarch Mountain Lodge
This is the only ski lodge that is located anywhere near Monarch Mountain. The Monarch Mountain Lodge is only approx. 4 miles to the east of the ski resort, and they have a free shuttle to bring you to the mountain from the lodge.
Nearby Poncha Springs & Salida Lodging
It takes about 20 minutes to drive from Poncha Springs to Monarch Mountain. This is the closest nearby town to the ski resort, except for the small community of Monarch where the Monarch Mountain Lodge can be found.
Loyal Duke Lodge
Located 25 minutes away from Monarch Mountain, this small motel is an inexpensive place to stay if you are headed to Monarch Mountain for skiing. Don’t expect any pools or hot tubs here.
Great Western Lodge
This is another small motel in Salida, but it does have a pool, sauna and hot tubs. This is nearby the Loyal Duke Lodge, in a row of small motels that are all located together on Hwy 50.
Gateway Inn & Suites
The Gateway Inn & Suites is a small two-story motel on Hwy 50 in Salida. There are a number of different suites here, and additional notes for the property include a continental breakfast and lots of meeting space on-site.
Hampton Inn & Suites
This property offers a choice of guest rooms and suites, and it is located right on Hwy 50 like most of the other small motels and hotels on this page. Guests here will enjoy an indoor pool, hot breakfast, and a small pantry store for snacks and all the things that you forgot at home.

This small motel is located right next to the Loyal Duke Lodge and a handful of other small Salida motels and travel lodges. The drive to Monarch Mountain from here takes about 25 minutes.
Nearby Gunnison Lodging
Gunnison is located just under a 1-hour drive to the west of Monarch Mountain. This is a stopover town for skiers that want to save money on lodging while headed to Monarch and Crested Butte.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites
This hotel is good for reliable quality. It’s not 5 stars and it’s not supposed to be. There is a breakfast bar here, but that is the extent of the property amenities. Rooms are cheap, so the Gunnison Holiday Inn can be a good place to stay if you are headed to Monarch for skiing the next day.
Comfort Inn
The Comfort Inn in Gunnison is similar to the Holiday Inn when it comes to price, but there are a few more amenities here including an indoor heated pool and hot tub. You can expect the drive to Monarch Mountain to take about 50 minutes from here.
Rodeway Inn
The Rodeway Inn is located on Hwy 50, to the west of downtown Gunnison. This is a small, singe-story, pet-friendly motel that can provide cheap lodging if you want to stay in the Gunnison area.
The Inn at Tomichi Village
This property is a bit more picturesque than most of the other small lodges and motels that are located on Hwy 50 in Gunnison and Salida. The best rooms here will cost more as well, but the cheapest rooms are still nearing the same range of $100/night. There are also the added benefits of an indoor pool and hot tub at this inn.

Yes, the community of Monarch is just down the highway (this isn’t even a town, just a community). There is only one lodge here, the Monarch Mountain Lodge, but you’ll find several vacation rentals available in Monarch depending upon your desired dates.
Salida is located about 30 minutes closer to the mountain than Gunnison, and the towns are similar.
