Sky Cab Gondola - Snowmass
The Sky Cab is a free gondola that is located at the base of the Snowmass Ski Resort. The gondola travels a short distance between the base area and the Snowmass Village Mall. The Fanny Hill ski trail runs below the gondola, and vacation condominiums line the side of the trail to the north.
Downloading is allowed for foot passengers who want to get to the lower section of Snowmass Village. No lift ticket is required for skiers or foot passengers to ride the gondola.
Sky Cab Gondola Stats
- Ride Time: 4 Minutes
- Vertical Rise: 160 Feet
- Capacity: 6 People
The Snowmass Sky Cab is a non-detachable gondola, also known as a pulse gondola. This means that in order to slow the gondola down so that people can get in, the entire gondola line must be slowed. That is why the gondola cabs are grouped together in threes. This allow 3 gondolas to be loaded at a time, which makes it so that the gondola does not need to stop as often. Don’t worry, it will only slow down once on the ride up from bottom after you are on your way.
Fanny Hill, located directly below the Sky Cab, is a flat, wide beginner ski trail. The run is short, but you can ski the hill for free and there is no need to buy a lift ticket to ski on this part of the mountain. This is an ideal place to bring a child for their first time on skis. You can expect to see at least a few children’s ski lessons going on within sight at any given time during the winter here.
Summer Operations
The Sky Cab gondola will run during the winter and summer tourist seasons.
Pets – Pets are allowed during the summer. Look for the gondola cabs with the paw print on them. No pets are allowed during the winter season.
Mountain Bikes – Mountain bikes are allowed in the Sky Cab gondola. Two bikes can fit in each gondola cab. The Elk Camp Gondola is one that will bring you to the MTB park, but this gondola can still be useful for bikers.
